The song I am analyzing is Michael Jackson’s beat it. I chose this song because it was the first song that really popped into my head and phone when I looked into my music. Throughout the song it gives off a vibe to get up and go to work is the way I analyze that songs theme. The rhyme and beats are pretty consistent throughout the whole song so you could really just snap your fingers through it and dance very rhythmically like Michael Jackson did from his performances or music videos. These questions are related because it all sets a certain mood and theme that is clear through the song.
Watching the music video after listening to the song really did not change much from what I had imagined through just listening to the song. The music video made me feel the same way but made me realize the dance moves I imagined in my head was a lot different from the dancing in the music video. I felt like I didn’t experience much change because the song is so consistent really displays a “upbeat theme”.
The music genre of Michael Jackson was very alike. Upbeat and consistent to making you feel a certain way. Feelings of wanting to get up and dance. Songs like Billy jean and thriller. All had a strong affect as when I listened to beat it. This assignment helped a lot to identify genre with music because the music I chose to analyze had such a strong effect on myself and I was able to identify those initial feelings/relate to the music.
