A writer is someone like Stephen king and JK Rowling. Big name authors who received huge amounts of renown in the writing industry. “Everyone else is meh” was my thoughts if I were to be asked before taking this class. Being not to great at writing myself never dived to far into writing besides scientific and research papers. I had that view because big name authors always have huge amounts of publicity that overshadows just about everything else. I learned just about anything in today’s academia you are a writer to some extent whether you know it or not.
I feel that in todays society the title is appropriate but back in the “old days” it would be far fetched to equate the two. Coming into today’s society everything from social media to content creating all has a common theme being abstractly identified. Notions/titles in the past is most of the time more black/white point of view vs. today which is more abstract.
Being a writer in the 21st century that I learned to realize is that technology is changing daily. With those changes if you’re not keeping up to speed you’re falling behind. Technology in the past didn’t change as rapidly as today.
With technology advances the core root of writing is even applicable to today’s writing. I felt through the course all the import subjects of writing still had tremendous value. What really changed was the technology we used to convey those concepts.
Future writers will have to consider audience much more importantly and making sure whatever they produce doesn’t get stolen (content). Everything you write in today’s society can reach out to millions of people across the globe.
